What to Expect with Choice CSA

Sign up now!

lotfotl-choice-csa-pickupWhen you arrive at the site, your farmer will check you in and walk you through the process of choosing your food. The goal of the program is to allow members to choose what they want and need for the week. We offer guidelines based on availability and budget to help members feel confident in the amounts that they can take. NOTE: With COVID-19 still active, members come to the truck and order their food from a distance. Truck assistants pack your food basket based on your specifications.

Veggies: Every week you can expect a variety of seasonal veggies, usually grown at LotFotL, and/or other local farms, assuring a wide selection of food. You choose what you need for the week. As long as everyone only takes what they need for the week, we feel confident that we will typically have enough for everyone to take what they want. Any items available in limited quantity can have restrictions. (INCLUDES: Veggies Plus and Produce Only)

Part-time Produce members will be able to select up to 7 produce items of their choice each week.

Bulk Veggies: During the growing season we make some bulk items available at no extra cost. Select members can request bulk portions of items like tomatoes and cucumbers for freezing or pickling etc.  We will let you know when these items become available, but if you are interested in a specific item you can let us know and we will let you know if we can make it happen. (INCLUDES: Veggies Plus and Produce Only)

Fruit: We include seasonal fruit periodically throughout the year.  Typical items include but do not guarantee, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, peaches, pears, and apples. Fruit is always from the Midwest and often Wisconsin.  We strive to find organic and/or small family operations. (INCLUDES: Veggies Plus, Produce Only, and Part-time Produce)

Meat: Each week we have a selection of sustainable meat (beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and specialty items). Popularity and inventory will be factors that contribute to what is available.  New this year, members purchase a meat package to pair with their CSA program.  Yearly packages allow for weekly allotments between $20 and $80 worth of meat. Programs are purchased for the full season. It will be pre-ordered online each week and delivered with your CSA items.

Meat credits are assigned at the beginning of the year based on the package you purchased. They are good for 1 season and will expire at the end of October each year. Because of limited inventory, per week order limits apply, so folks need to order meat throughout the season instead of in lump sums. We will not deliver more than $100 worth of meat in one week.. (Add On Option: Veggies Plus, Produce Only, and Part-time Produce)

Farmers Market details: Choose to pick up any of our programs on Saturday at the Milwaukee South Shore Farmers Market. Seasonal prices will reflect a 20 wk season rather than 24. Part-time produce is still 15 pickups and priced the same.  All items are pre-ordered on line for this location. *Option to add a meat program that fits your needs and budget to either one of these programs.

Cheese: We will have cheese available from Cedar Grove and Clock Shadow. Guideline: up to 1 block/adult/wk. (INCLUDES: Veggies Plus &Produce Only)
